Delta Air Lines Emerges from Protection

A very good day for Delta Air Lines as they emerge from bankruptcy protection after a 19 month restructuring. The restructuring left the airline leaner, tougher, and more able to deal with the market after shedding thousands of jobs, cutting wages, and ridding itself of high aircraft leases.

At 10.21am, the wire transfer was completed, repaying their creditors that gave the Atlanta based airline the money to operate in bankruptcy protection.

Delta Air Line's chief bankruptcy lawyer said, "This is an amazing day for an extraordinary company, which has reclaimed its heritage and has emerged from Chapter 11 as a fierce, determined and well-capitalized competitor."

Now that Delta is out of bankruptcy, it may consider shedding Comair, their regional carrier which has struggled with complaints from passengers and horrible on-time arrivals.

More news is expected later today as executives hold news conferences and unveil the new re-branding of the airline, which is likely to include a new livery.

Unlike traditionally passive television shows, which expect viewers to zone out in a couch-potato haze, "Lost," which returns with new episodes Wednesday night, has embedded clues throughout. It's these recurring tidbits and the patterns they form that make "Lost" the first show to resemble a video game.

Weaned my kids off television

I have a 6 yr old and a 4 yr old. My wife and I were suddenly shocked to realize they were watching at least 3 hours of tv a day. One hour in the morning, then at least two hours after school or before bed.
So we cancelled cable. Not because the kids were watching cable, but because we were. Figured if we were going to put the hammer down on our kids, we should start with ourselves.
...thought (except CANDYLAND).
It only took 2 weeks for them to go from crying and screaming and begging for tv in the evenings, to not even asking anymore. Now after baths they run to the hall closet to pull out some boardgames.
It can be done and was easier than I expected.
Now my wife and I barely watch tv at all. Maybe a total of one hour a day.
Can't say that I miss it.
